Hi, I’m Kirsten Murray: writer &
comics editor for hire, dedicated to making sure no story goes untold.

Writing

Understanding the power of language,
I offer versatile writing services ranging from in-depth interviews and bold opinion pieces to engaging copy for businesses who are at a loss for words.

Friendly, devoted and reliable, I’ll craft sharp copy you can be confident in, using carefully tailored words which capture the essence of your project.

Familiar with conducting detailed research and interviews, you will receive high-quality, well-researched pieces, always delivered on time. Whether the story is personal or for a large brand, I can adapt my voice to suitably
engage and inform your target reader.

I am currently acting as Communications Officer for StAnza, Scotland’s International Poetry Festival and Social Media Officer for Open Book. In 2021, I collaborated with UNESCO and Agency of None to develop content for Dundee Design Festival as part of their content creation team, and have previously provided media support to the animal welfare charity, Dogs Trust.

I have worked on a number of highly rated How to Draw books for popular film and video game franchises, including Spirit Untamed, Fortnite, and Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Editing

Creating comics can be a daunting task. With nearly ten years of experience in comics editorial, I am committed to helping creators tap into the heart of their story, working together to ensure their projects become the best they can be.

Collaborating closely every step of the way, I’m experienced in performing editorial assessments, editing scripts and artwork, reviewing pitches, and seeing comic production through from conception to completion.

Alongside gaining in-house experience at Titan Comics and DC Thomson, I have worked with a number of independent creators. During the pandemic, I edited and project managed Planet Divoc-91: an ambitious multimedia project backed by some of the UK’s most prestigious scientific organisations. I have recently proofread the English translations of Cixin Liu’s graphic novel adaptations for Head of Zeus.

I am currently working on a number of exciting comic book and video game projects, including project managing an immersive video game based on the comic She Could Fly, as well as editing the graphic novel element of a stunning multimedia project, coming soon from whitefox.

About Me

Qualified with a joint honours degree in English Literature and History from the University of Glasgow, as well as a Masters degree in Comics Studies from the University of Dundee, I have a real passion for language, research and creativity.

Having gained invaluable experience within the fast-paced publishing industry, I am able
to adapt my skills for a wide variety of projects.
I have working knowledge of Adobe CC, Microsoft and Wordpress.

Currently based just outside Edinburgh, Scotland, I enjoy roller derby, horror films, and live/loud music. In quieter moments, I’m trying my hand at writing a novel.

You can find me on Instagram or (most likely) lost amongst the stacks in a bookshop.
